Veluna 591 CY

At the end of the Greyhawk Wars, Veluna felt prosperous and safe. The destruction that had visited its neighbors had largely bypassed the realm of peace and serenity. Veluna's strong armies were deployed abroad helping defend and rebuild its neighbors. Veluna's wealth was deployed abroad as well, with the expectation that it would be repaid with interest when reconstruction was complete.

Peace, however, seems to be a temporary thing. Veluna's light produce some shadows in 591 CY. Undead attacked Falsridge, revealing that agents of an evil power had been smuggling arms and other contraband into the realm through magical portals. The Lord of Worms began to creep around beneath the surface of events. A Pack of theives were discovered operating beneath the very feet of the pious church. A fiendish epidemic began to plague Veluna's animals.

Deadly as all these perils were, historians now agree that the powers of Veluna should have paid greater attention the first stirrings around the hidden Rings of Austor. Though Veluna's heroes diligently recovered one ring of the Church, another was lost to evil forces unknown. Only in hindsight did the luminaries of Veluna see their peril.
