n order to understand the Archclericy
of Veluna you must understand what drives the people that live there and to put it simply religion is the heart and soul of
Veluna. Holy reverence and worship affect every facet of Velunan life. From the Archcleric of the nation kneeling before
Rao, all the way down to the common farmer saying a prayer to
Berei or Pelor,
the court judge pouring over Saint Cuthbert's teachings, clever
guildmasters beseeching Zilchus for aid, the rugged teamster getting
his wagon blessed by Fharlanghn, the mystical scholar meditating
on the wisdom of Boccob, or autumn hymns of
Wenta sung by the brewer and her husband strolling the village lane,
all before starting their day of work. Chivalry and honor revolve around many religious beliefs that guided four major Knighthoods
to make their home in Veluna. The worship of Rao is the most widespread
and visible religion in Veluna. Unlike other countries though, Veluna is very tolerant of other religions and some beliefs have
very strong followings in the vale.
Of the many religions represented in Veluna three stand out and one in particular rules above them all. They are Rao, Saint Cuthbert, and Heironeous. These can vary a great deal depending on current happenings and location though. More information on the structures of these churches and meta-groups associated with them can be found in the organization section or on the web page at later date.
So many followers are welcome except to those that are devoted to a god of evil or a one that condones acts of evil or indifference. Velunans do not keep their tongue when it comes to the vile gods. Non-tolerated religions of Beltar, Erythnul, Hextor, Incabulos, Iuz, Nerull, Phyremius, Raxivort, Syrul, Tharizdun, Vecna or Wastri will be run out of town or destroyed outright by the forces of Veluna. Disliked religions such as Kurrell, Ralishaz, Vatun, Wee Jas are given a very cold shoulder and told they are not welcome, though normally will not be rooted out and destroyed.
