Many languages are spoken across the Flanaess, with Common the most prevalent. Most folk are multilingual, though barbarians and the uneducated often speak but one tongue. Six languages are common in Veluna, though others may be heard depending on the community and the speaker. The languages are listed in decending order of knowledge and use.

Common, Velondi, Flan, Elven, Gnome and Halfling

Common and Flan are among the five most common spoken across the Flanaess. The other three are Ancient Baklunish, Old Oeridian, and Ancient Suloise. There are a number of other languages, dialects and sublanguages worthy of note. Those who speak related languages have some chance to understand dialects, but little chance to comprehend distorted, mixed tongues. These tongues are Amedi, Cold Tongue, Druidic, Dwarven, Ferral, Keolandish, Lendorian, Lendorian Elven, Nyrondese, Olman, Ordai, Rhopan, and Ulagha.
